Long a favorite project management system for small and flexible companies, Slack is now expanding to provide services for corporations and multi-tiered businesses. Called Slack Enterprise Grid, the solution keeps most of Slack’s popular features like conversation channels and message threads, chat, and both video and voice calls. The difference is the enterprise solution will have added security and organization elements.
Administrators will be able to organize custom Slack channels for different departments and workgroups based on their needs. Channels for cross-departmental collaboration can also be created.
Administrators can customize security for each channel, keeping privileged information protected for only those who have permission to access it. Security can be monitored for the whole organization from one view as well. Data retention and other features are available as add-ons.
Slack Enterprise Grid is built to work with existing services from Adobe, IBM, Salesforce, Box, and GSuite.
