Google Ranking Now Determined By Mobile Site

A year and a half ago, we wrote about how Google added a mobile factor to your site’s search ranking.

Now, it’s mobile first.

Google’s crawler – the one that indexes your site and determines its search ranking – now acts as a mobile user.

Have you looked at your site on an iPhone or Android phone lately? Are any links missing? Do pictures take too long to load? Now’s the time to clean up the mobile version of your site so you can maintain or boost your ranking.

One new feature that will now count towards your page rank is content hidden in expandable sections, like a menu or a “read more” dropdown. Since hiding content sometimes makes for a cleaner mobile experience, Google will start counting it as part of your page.
