Eight of the top AI tools and automation for small businesses that aren’t hard to use

The buzz around AI and business is best described as feverish. What’s hype, and what’s not? Hype won’t help your business, so let’s focus on AI tools and automation that work.

OpenAI is not the only horse in the stable. There are alternatives to ChatGPT. Anthropic’s Claude is an excellent alternative and more concerned with safety than OpenAI.

The most advanced versions of ChatGPT and Claude require a paid subscription. To get the best results from both, you need a detailed prompt. You’re unlikely to get a quality answer if you’re not specific.

For example, the prompt “Please give me three keywords to use in writing about AI” gave me generic keywords like machine learning and neural networks. A second prompt asking, “Please give me the three best keywords for an article about AI and small business that will improve the SEO of the article,” gave me specific keywords, explained why they were good, and included secondary keywords to use in the article.

Do you want to produce images for your company? Dall-E is available through ChatGPT Plus and the enterprise version. If you use and prefer Adobe products, Adobe Firefly works well.

If you’re a Google user and want to speed up the work of designing and writing presentations, try Plus AIFeatures include lots of templates and customizable logos, fonts, and colors.

Are you using ChatGPT or Claude to write content? Use Grammarly to check for errors and improve that content. AI does hallucinate (gives you bogus content), so check any facts.

Do you need to turn written content into a speech? Check out Speechify. Do the results of your business meetings and follow-ups get lost? Fireflies.ai provides automatic transcriptions that you can send out to everyone.
