Have you noticed some chatbots are helpful, but a good number are a waste of your time? Recently, I gave up after a minute or two of trying to get help with my questions. Most chatbots are unable to answer complex questions.
Are your employees more productive using chatbots? They’re popular for HR, customer service, communications, marketing, and IT. A recent report indicates employees may save an hour a week. Not a big wow.
Another report indicates a 15% increase in productivity using generative AI. And yet another found 10% of workers grappling with increased tasks due to AI. AI isn’t paying off for businesses as quickly as the hype suggests.
Can chatbots help? Yes, up to 40% of workers who use them say they’re invaluable to get things done faster. That’s significant.
Employees using chatbots find them most helpful in finding information and conducting research on particular topics, as well as editing and writing content. Fewer use them to generate ideas, create images, or summarize information.
If chatbots are this useful, and with all the hype around AI, why aren’t they used more? Most workers are unaware of their availability or don’t believe chatbots would be helpful in their work. A majority of employers don’t encourage their use.
Freelancers are more likely to use chatbots in their work. I do. To realize productivity gains in the workplace, employers must educate their workforce on chatbots and their best uses.
