Social media sites appear to multiply like rabbits; there’s Facebook, X (formerly known as Twitter), LinkedIn, TikTok, and many more. Social media is a fantastic way to connect with customers. With so many choices, how do you decide which one is best for your business?
That depends on your business type and what social media sites your ideal customer likes to visit. Your marketing people should know your ideal customer. But do they know where to find them on social media?
One of the best ways is surveying your current customers to find out where they hang out on social. There’s research available that tells you where your ideal customer demographic likes to be social.
Identify a few of those sites and determine which ones work best for your business. Being on too many sites is a waste of time and advertising dollars. Tools like HootSuite or SocialBee make managing your social business accounts easy.
But it isn’t easy to stay on track with multiple accounts, even with these tools. Unless your business has a unique niche, consider the most prominent platforms. Facebook is huge, with millions of users. It’s a favorite of B2C businesses.
LinkedIn is popular with B2B businesses. It’s good at generating leads and collaborating with other companies. Setting up a company page is simple, and clients can follow you.
Are your products photogenic? Instagram or YouTube are superb ways to showcase your products and services. Along with Pinterest, Instagram and YouTube are excellent brand promoters.
Tiktok gets lots of press nowadays. If your ideal customer is younger or you want to associate fun with your brand, this site fits. Your videos need to be short and snappy.
